Parents
Many teachers start children in formal piano at age 7 using traditional methods. Our innovative program uses methods that are age related that help children enjoy the process of learning while maintaining their focus and attention on the concepts learned. Through group lessons children socially interact with others to reinforce their learning skills.

Questions and Answers
Is my child too young to learn piano at age three?
What is classical training?
Classical training is not a new concept but has been used since the Baroque era. This style of teaching is used by professional teachers that have extensive study in the classical european form.

Instead of a multitude of method, theory, flashcards, workbooks and supplemental books to learn concepts in music teachers use one main book and sometimes a supplemental technique book. From the main book teachers are able to fully use the music to teach the necessary skills needed to play music. In one song a teacher can explain the concepts of learning new notes, rhythmic notation, terminology, ear training of intervals, harmonization and techniques such as articulation and phrasing. The skills are explained carefully and learned while playing the song rather than going to many different books and trying to tie it all together with the new song that they are learning. A supplemental technique book is used to help children develope a more confident hand and finger technique that is used in all playing. With our program we bring the fun factor into learning the classical style through unique ways in which we present the materials that children love.
Knowledge is powerless unless it is used. Compositition is used to strongly reinforce the skills that the children are learning in their lessons. When students learn new concepts they are encouraged to manipulate them in their own creative way through composition. This extra step that we teach ensures that your child fully utilizes what they have learned in the own creative style.
Why is composition important?
Why does your program incorporate performance into your curriculum.
To share ones emotions and joys with others through music is truly a gift. Music is meant to be shared with others and what better way than through group ensemble in classes, intimate playing at home with family or taking pride in ones acccomplishments by performing for others in informal and formal recitals and competitions.

Goal setting is encouraged through learning, preparing, memorizing and performing a song for others. This process helps children to gain confidence as each step is securely learned before proceeding to the next step.
When is my child ready for private lessons?
We encourage begining students to complete the group lesson program to provide a solid musical base which will accelerate them once they reach private lesson level. At that point students can enter private lessons in the "Student" level or discuss with the director if they are interested in the "Artist" or Virtuoso" level. Transfer students of different levels may audition for placement in private lessons.
